The last thing you want is to spend cash in a gift for a teen, only to get that tell-tale sneer when they open the present. Be sure to please with these tips on buying a digital camera for teens.
It must look cool
Above all, and perhaps even more significant than the actual usefulness of the camera, a digital camera for teens must look cool. Look for models that come in flashy colors, or are just cute, funky or high-tech-looking.
Think small
Teens will definitely prefer a small, compact camera to one that is large and clunky. Even if that means giving up a few features, find a camera that can easily slide in a pocket, hang by a string, slip into a purse or pop into a backpack.
Find fun features
A teen will care less about the precise recycling time or zoom range, and a lot more about neato bells and whistles. Look for cameras that also shoot video, serve as a Web-cam or connect directly to their printer.
Take it easy
You probably have to worry much less about ease of use for teenagers. Even if you can't figure out how to shoot a picture, they probably can. Since teens have been raised in this gadget-friendly era, they are sure to be able to play with most cameras right out of the box.
Combine it
There is probably not a teenager on the planet who would turn away a camera/cellphone or camera/PDA combo. This will allow teens to shoot pics on the fly, and then e-mail them to friends. It hardly gets cooler than that!
